Mesaj de acum 62 ani descoperit la Auschwitz
O echipa de muncitori care lucra la renovarea unei celule din cadrul complexului de trista amintire de la Auschwitz au facut o descoperire de proportii cand a gasit in mod intamplator o sticla care continea un mesaj. Sticla in cauza a fost ascunsa in zidul celulei de catre un grup de 7 prizonieri.
Datat 9 septembrie 1944, mesajul era scris cu un stilou pe o bucata de carton care a fost introdusa apoi in sticla. Mesajul cuprindea numele, numerele de ordine si adresele de acasa ale unui grup de 7 prizonieri ai lagarului. 6 dintre ei erau originari din Polonia, iar celalalt din Franta, varsta lor fiind cuprinsa intre 18-22 ani, conform cercetarilor cel putin 2 dintre ei traiesc inca in zilele noastre. Experti din cadrul muzeului memorial de la Auschwitz-Birkenau vor expertiza documentul care va fi expus vizitatorilor in decursul lunii mai a anului curent.
Mesajul descoperit a fost scris pe o bucata de carton rupta dintr-o cutie de ciment. Cele trei cladiri ale scolii situate la doar 50 de metri de lagar au fost folosite drept magazii si depozite pentru efectele trupelor SS. Cei sapte prizonieri au fost fortati sa munceasca la ranforsarea cu beton a zidului depozitului pentru a servi drept adapost antiaerian in cazul unor bombardamente ale aliatilor.
Lagarul de exterminare de la Auschwitz a fost construit de nazisti in anul 1940 pe teritoriul Poloniei ocupate in timpul celui de al doilea Razboi Mondial. Cel putin 1,1 milioane oameni, majoritatea evrei, au fost ucisi in acest loc.
The workmen were renovating a cellar near to the Nazi concentration camp when they found the note rolled up inside a bottle.
Dated September 9, 1944, the message - handwritten in pencil - gives the names, camp numbers and hometowns of seven prisoners - six from Poland and one from France.
All were aged between 18 and 20. At least two of them survived the war.
Museum experts have verified the authenticity of the note, which will go on display in early May.
"They were young people who were trying to leave some trace of their existence behind them," said Auschwitz museum spokesman Jaroslaw Mensfelt.
He added: "We know two of the Auschwitz prisoners who signed the message survived the camp, but their later fate isn't known.
"If they are alive, they would be in their eighties now. Perhaps the publicity surrounding this discovery will lead to more information."
Workmen were tearing out a wall in the basement of a college building in the town of Oswiecim - the German name for which is Auschwitz.
The note appeared to have been written on a scrap from a cement bag, college spokeswoman Monika Bartosz said.
The school's three buildings, about 100 yards from the camp, were used as warehouses during the war by Hitler's SS troops.
The prisoners were forced to reinforce the cellar with concrete so it could serve as an air raid shelter.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau camp was erected by the Nazis from 1940 onwards in occupied Poland. At least 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, lost their lives there.
